Two Friends book three
Beans was a cat. This story a story of love, friendship, and goodbye is his story. I am now going to tell it to you. “Sally! Peter” Sally and Peter’s mom called. “Time for breakfast!” “Okay!” The two children called back. They rushed down the stairs. Breakfast was toast and jelly. As usual. The Kit family was the kind of family that talked while they ate. “Can we get a cat?” Asked Sally. “Maybe” answered Mrs. Kit. That evening Mr. Kit asked Sally and Peter if they wanted to go with him on a special errand. Of course, the kids said yes so they all hopped into the car and went. Peter asked what the special errand was but Mr. Kit said it was a surprise. When the Kits got there Sally and Peter discovered that the special errand was to the pet store. They went in. There were dogs, cats, hamsters, and more!
Mr. Kit asked what pet they should get. The family settled on getting a cat. The Kits walked around the pet store. Finally the family picked out a cat that had orange, brown, white, and a bit of black. The Kits decided to name him Beans. Peter did not really care for Beans. But Sally loved him to the moon and back. Mr. And Mrs. Kit did not care much for Beans either. So Sally was basically the only one who loved him. When Beans got home he wiped his muddy paws on a towel. Then Beans and Sally went inside the house. Beans lay down. Sally showed him a bright green blanket with blue polka dots that he could sleep on.
Beans lay down and started to drift to sleep. Soon beans found himself in a deep dream. He was in a dark cage and the bars were so close together that he couldn’t squeeze out, not even in his tightest ball. Beans owner was outside the cage had black hair and an cruel scowl on her face. At dinner time she mumbled a few unrecognizable words and gave Beans two moths for his dinner. What Beans would have preferred would be a nice can of tuna. But he had to stick with the moths. For the night, instead of a warm blanket to sleep on he had a tattered old piece of carpet. Beans finally woke up from his horrible nightmare. Would this really be how his owners would treat him? Thought Beans. Well I guess I’ll try it for at least one day. But when Beans looked in front of him a nice weenie had been set out just for him.
Beans got in the rhythm of having a routine, eat, sleep, play with Sally, eat, sleep, play with Sally. That’s how it went every day. But today, instead of Beans routine Beans found himself doing something else. In the afternoon when Beans would usually be napping he found himself being shoved into a little cage with a handle. Sally carried him out to the car. Beans wondered where he would be going. When Beans and the Kit family stopped they went into a building that, printed in big letters were the words VET.
Inside of the place called VET there were other pets Beans and the Kits sat in a bench and waited. Eventually, a nurse came out of the door, she invited Sally and Beans to come in through the door. Beans came into a little white room with a little white bed and the white wallpaper was dotted with painted paw prints. The nurse got out a pointed thing. What is it going to do to me? Thought Beans. Sally lay Beans down on the little white bed. The nurse that was holding the pointy thing walked over to were Beans was lying. She put something that was in a bottle labeled medicine into the pointy thing. The nurse pricked Beans with it. Beans let out a loud screech. And his hair stood up on his back. Beans jumped a foot in the air. Beans clearly did not like that one bit. Beans scowled at the nurse. Luckily, the nurse didn’t do that anymore. And Beans was happy that it didn’t.
The lock struck 5:00 “Time to go” called Mrs. Kit. Peter thumped down the stairs in a superman outfit. Beans looked curious. Sally soon came down she had a black cat outfit on.
“I took after you” whispered Sally to Beans. Beans, who was in the corner cleaning his paws, decided if Sally was coming he should come too. So he walked over. “No Beans” Sally giggled. “You can’t come. Plus, you can’t have candy you don’t have a costume either.” Beans had no idea what candy was but he guessed a costume was what Sally and Peter were dressed in. Sally and Peter stalked out the door in their costumes. Beans stayed home with Mr. And Mrs. Kit but Mr. Kit went off to his room to read the paper and Mrs. Kit went over to the living room too watch soap operas. Clearly, they weren’t much help. Beans started playing with his yarn ball but soon got tired of that. He tried to take a nap but he couldn’t fall asleep. So he just sat on the couch and started cleaning his fur. He did this for an hour and still Sally and Peter did not come back. Beans was getting anxious.
Beans did this for yet another hour. And they finally came back. When they did come back they were crunching chocolate, chewing bubble gum, and licking lollypops. Maybe this is what candy is. Thought Beans. I guess I’ll never now for sure. But Beans was happy they had come back anyway.
One day Beans was sitting outside eating a can of tuna outside with Sally sitting next to him when a black cat came up to him. “Oh look you can play with midnight!” Sally exclaimed. “I’m not so sure about that.” Beans mumbled in cat language, looking at midnights bald patch on his side. He doesn’t look like the kind of cat that would want to play, but I’ll at least try it. Thought Beans so that midnight wouldn’t know. Beans swiped at midnight playfully. Midnight scowled and swiped back. Sally had gone inside to help her mom with the dishes. Together they swiped until they were in the middle of the driveway. Midnight growled at Beans. Beans scratched Midnights ear. Midnight bit the orange tip of Beans tail.
Beans decided that he would be the one to stop the fight. He stalked inside the house with his head held high. Midnight, in seeing this, retreated and went to his porch.
One day when Beans was taking a nap peacefully on the living room couch Sally woke him up by picking him up. She carried him into the bathroom were there was a tub filled with water.
I wonder what it’s for. Thought Beans. Sally put him down into the water. Beans was surprised the bath was for him! Beans yipped he jumped he splashed he howled. Sally surprisingly got Beans washed and in a few minutes he was out of the tub. Then Sally got out a thing, that she called a blow dryer. The blow drier started blowing warm air on Beans. He purred softly while his fur dried.
By about this time Sally was older and ready to go to to college. She was all ready with her bags packed. Sally and Beans said goodbye to each other. And then Sally left. Now because no one willing to take care of Beans, that evening the Kits drove Beans back to the pet store.
Years went by, Beans hadn’t gotten purchased yet. He was bored without Sally. But, by now Sally had a husband. One day Sally and her husband went to the pet store. Sally saw Beans and thought he looked familiar. Beans thought Sally looked familiar too. Sally bought him and named him Beans. Then their close friendship started over again.
The End
